It is been a week since the event and, in addition to WNBC Channel 4 in NYC covering us the evening of the event, Chic Report of Fashion Week Daily also featured the story: http://blogs.fashionweekdaily.com/?p=13995.

It's a looooooooooong bag.

We had a GREAT time yesterday - thanks to everyone who showed up and hung out as we created The World's Longest Handbag. The final bag was over 80 feet long and weighed about 30 pounds! It took about 25 people to pick it up! Over 500 people showed up to help out, hang out and soak up the great sunny day we had. Check out the pics and video! More to come in the next couple days.

Sunshine!

The weather reports all predicted rain for today but the sun is out and the rain is gone! It's going to be a great day! 420 zpstrips from the kids a New Design High, another 15 from celebrities, 50 more from random friends, and who knows how many we'll get from folks who show up to be a part of the record.

One day left...

We're here in the city and just about to head down to the school to check it out for tomorrow's big event. We'll have plenty of tenting and tarps if it's sprinkling, and we've got a DJ, free lollipops and a bunch of celebrity zpstrips to add to the bag. Plus, if you buy a zpr bag at the event you'll get a free Mission SkinCare lip balm! So, it should be a great afternoon! We're especially looking forward to seeing how the kids from New Design High customized their zpstrips. It should be a really, really cool bag with all their creativity on display.

Well, we're getting close to the big day and the celebrity strips are starting to come in - a couple VERY well known fashion designers, a few actors, a Hall of Fame football player, and more - and we're expecting hundreds of people to help us set the record! So far, the weather looks good, too! The only real question is how long will the final bag be? 50 feet? 70 feet? More? Only one way to find out. OK there are a few ways to find out, but the best way is to come down to the event and see for yourself, in person. Of course, we'll post pics and info here on the blog as they come in, too. So if you can't make it in person, check here often to see how the whole thing turns out.

Welcome to The World's Longest Handbag blog!

In honor of National Zipper Day on April 29th, 2009, we will attempt to create The World's Longest Handbag. Only zpr bagTM could even attempt such a record because only zpr bag lets you change the size of your bag anytime you want. All proceeds from the sale of the zpstrips used to create the bag will be donated to New Design High School and Fashion Camp NYC.

We've already contacted the folks at Guinness World Records to make everything offical. Now all we need is you and your friends to make sure we set a record that may never be broken!

Where: Rooftop of New Design High School, 350 Grand St., NYC
When: Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 from 3-7 pm
Why: To set a new world record and help a kid achieve their dream of a career in fashion!

Even if you cannot attend the event, your purchase of a zpstrip will greatly help us set the record and contribute to these special organizations. Narrow zpstrips are being sold for $2 each (or 3 for $5) and wide zpstrips are $4 each (or 3 for $10). If you would like to purchase zpstrips, please email Kat Costello @ kat@zprbag.com.
